Best Beaches in Corfu

Corfu, a Greek island in the Ionian Sea, is renowned for its stunning beaches. Many are child-friendly with sandy stretches to pebbly coves, its beaches cater to all kinds of beachgoers and those wanting a more high-energy escape will find myriad water sports and the vast Aqualand park. Corfu Town, with its Venetian fortresses, is an inspiring day out, but it’s the beaches (of which there are just shy of 60) that inspire most holidaymakers. 1. Cape Drastis, northwest coast

Prepare for an adventure by boat or on foot to reach Cape Drastis, whose sculpted clay cliffs lie at Corfu’s northwest tip. Families will find excellent swimming and snorkelling conditions. If you want more then enjoy the view out to the Diapontian islets and be sure to stick around for captivating sunsets.

2. Agios Georgios, northwest coast

Agios Georgios is a long, sandy beach in the northwest. Surrounded by green hills it is a world away from the busy resorts on the opposite coast. Clean crystal waters, soft sand and plenty of water sports ensure that the children are kept busy all day, while neat rows of loungers and beachfront tavernas keep the grown-ups comfortable too. Easy by car via a steep narrow road.

3. Paleokastritsa, west coast

Paleokastritsa is famous for its crystal-clear waters, beautiful surroundings and cliffs. Perfect for snorkeling, with several caves to explore. Agios Spyridon, is the central beach. You can also visit the Paleokastritsa Monastery nearby аnd has seа cavеs in the roсκs which gоοd swimmers сan eхplοre (the non – swimmers сan visit the сaves bу bοat). Something more important to do take a boat tour and visit the coastline’s caves and coves.

4. Sidari Beach

Sidari beach is known for the Canal d’Amour (a series of narrow channels and caves), this beach offers soft sand and shallow waters, perfect for families. The romantic Canal d’Amour: a natural channel where, legend has it, swimmers can find luck in love. Sidari beach itself is larger, with parasols and loungers for hire. The waters are shallow, making it ideal for families.

5. Issos

Issos is known for its vast stretch of golden sand and crystal-clear waters. Issos beach is ideal for sunbathing and water sports. It’s more tranquil compared to Glyfada, offering a relaxed and less crowded atmosphere.

6. Agios Gordios Beach

A long, sandy beach with dramatic views of the island’s mountains. It’s quieter compared to Glyfada and ideal for relaxation. There are also several cafes and tavernas along the beach.

7. Halikounas, south coast

Halikounas beach supposed to be one of the loveliest corners in the Ionian Islands. This narrow strip of sandy shore sits between the sea and Lake Korission, a natural bay that provides a haven for migratory birds.

8. Myrtiotissa, west coast

Myrtiotissa is said to be perhaps the most beautiful beach in Corfu. Familiar for the monastery that stands on the leafy mountain above the shore.

9. Rovinia beach

In stark contrast to the organised Rovinia is a wild and natural gem. Accessible only by boat or via the footpath from Liapades. Because it’s a bit of an effort to get here, it rarely gets crowded — even in peak season.

10. Kassiopi beach

Kassiopi has a beautiful mix of pebbly and sandy beaches, ideal for those who love a picturesque setting. The waters here are very clear, and it offers a variety of restaurants and cafes with views over the Ionian Sea.

Located near Glyfada, Kontogialos is a serene, less crowded beach with crystal-clear waters, soft sand, and surrounded by green hills. It’s great for a peaceful day in the sun and perfect for swimming and relaxing

Limni beach is a natural causeway connecting an island to the mainland. Consequently, Limni has two bays, so there’s plenty of space to spread out – not that there’ll be many others to share it with. Access is solely by boat or on foot through olive groves, making this an ideal beach for adventure-seekers.
